May 22, 2024 saw the launch of the newest student club on campus: The UoN ISACA Student Group.

The event that took place at the Department of Computing and Informatics labs brought together officials of the ISACA Kenya Chapter and students interested in pursuing careers in Information System Audit and Cyber Security.

The event featured key speakers, most of them alumni of the department,  who shared invaluable insights. They included Nabiha Rishad and Wanjiru Riara from Serianu;  Hope Nduta from Cyber Shujaa; George Kisaka, Kevin Tuei and Emmanuel Musau from ISACA Kenya Chapter.

Among the key discussion points were a comprehensive overview of the Africa Cyber Immersion Center highlighting its functions, including community outreach, educational programs for students, research initiatives, and product development.

The presentation about ISACA advocated actionable steps for students to maximize their engagement with the Student Group. Students were encouraged to join the group and benefit from certification programs such as CISA, ITCA and CET; various student-centered activities and events such annual conferences, hackathons, webinars, and community engagement initiatives.

ISACA has a number of scholarships that students can greatly benefit from, such as the Digital Trust Scholarship and ISACA Women's Month Scholarship.

The event concluded on a high note, fostering enthusiasm among participants who pledged  to actively participate in the ISACA Student Group and leverage its offerings for personal and professional growth.

Finally, the patron of the UoN ISACA Student Group, Christopher Moturi, cut the ribbon and officially launched the club.

The department applauds the following students who initiated the formation of the club, now registered with the Dean of Students: Najma Ali Mahamud (President), Priscilla Alakara Omuse (Vice President), Carole June Kibuku (Secretary) and Kimberly Godish (Treasurer).
