Filecoin Orbit Kenya and GDSC UoN's Open Hack Day on the Filecoin Virtual Machine (FVM)

On March 17, 2023, Filecoin Orbit Kenya and GDSC UoN hosted an Open Hack Day focused on the Filecoin Virtual Machine (FVM). The event aimed to promote the use of Filecoin's decentralized data storage marketplace, protocol, and cryptocurrency to make the web more secure and efficient.

The hackathon was open to everyone, including students, developers, and blockchain enthusiasts. The event had 6000 USD in prizes, which were distributed among the winning teams. The participants were tasked with developing innovative projects on the FVM, showcasing the potential of Filecoin's technology.

The hackathon began with a brief introduction to Filecoin and FVM, highlighting the significance of the technology in the current digital landscape. Participants were then given the freedom to develop projects using Filecoin's decentralized data storage, with mentors available to assist in the development process.

Throughout the day, participants worked tirelessly on their projects, with the mentors offering guidance and support. The projects developed by the participants ranged from decentralized file sharing applications to secure data storage solutions, demonstrating the versatility of the FVM.

The hackathon run till February 27th and winners were announce on March 1st.The  solutions were submitted and showcased together with other participants globally.The hackathon was a massive success, with the participants showcasing the potential of Filecoin's technology to revolutionize the way we store and share data on the web. 

The event was an excellent opportunity for developers and blockchain enthusiasts to learn more about Filecoin's technology and explore its potential use cases.
